Baby's First Visit Basket

My little nephew will be a year old in July, but like most of the McCracken children, he's already been to Disney World. I love Disney and I was really excited to experience my nephew's first trip so I made him a little first trip basket. It includes a Mickey doll, a first visit sippy cup, a pair of baby ears, a Disney travel journal, and a light saber because why not?

I was just really excited and you can add or substitute anything for something else, like for a little girl add a princess wand. If you want other ideas, check the world of Disney. They have all sorts of options! I hope you enjoyed this fun little gift!

Taking Care of your Make-Up Brushes

Hello there! So one of my favorite things in the world is make-up. I love it so so much and I have learned a lot about it in the last few years. One thing I have learned is to take care of your make-up tools.

Your brushes are very important and after a while, they need to be cleaned. Cleaning your brushes should happen way more often than you think and than I normally do. I have always heard after ten days. If you don't know how to clean I can teach you.

First, grab all the dirty brushes, make-up blenders, eye brushes, etc.

Take a dry paper towel and lay it out. You'll place your brushes there after you initially clean them.

Get another paper towel. Now, they make brush cleaner, but you can also use make-up remover or just plain soap. Wet it with whatever cleaner you have decided to use and make sure you use water if you use soap.

Take your brushes and lightly brush the wet paper towel. Keep going until the brush runs clean. Sometimes you may have to run them under a faucet to get the soap completely out. That's okay, it shouldn't happen too often but it won't hurt the brushes once and a while. Oh and your paper towel will be a completely different color. It happens.

After all your brushes have been clean and laying out on the dry paper towel pick them up and brush them against your skin to get their fluff and shape back a little bit. Then place them upright in a cup and let them dry so they dry in their shape.

After that, you're done! You have successfully cleaned your make-up brushes. Try and keep up with it and you will be a pro at taking care of them. Let me know what you thought in the comments below and have a wonderful day.

School is Important

So this year I have found it very hard to get motivated. It's odd, because I can stay pretty good on grades even when I am not motivated because, though I don't study as hard, I still know that school is IMPORTANT!

Something we kids take for granted in the U.S. is the fact that we get educated. I know that I am blessed to be an Auburn student so I feel that I should be able to sit down and focus on the books in front of me to make sure that I get the grades that best represent my knowledge on the topic at hand. I know that I need to start studying earlier. I know that I need to stop looking at my phone for at least an hour at a time. I know I need to try my best with what I have been given.

Sometimes this is hard. I know it's not easy especially when you have other things on your brain like vacations, boys, or parties. But you have to tear through those things sometimes and prioritize that school is why you are here. It's great that your sorority sisters have planned this trip for all of you. It's wonderful that this guy asked you out last week and you are so excited. It's awesome that your friends have invited you to this party on Friday night, but Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are for school. Friday night to Sunday morning is yours and Sunday is God's. Work for the weekend. It's a saying that's not wrong. You can do this because you know School is Important!

I hope you got something out of this post this week and I hope you have a wonderful week!

Downsizing your Packing

I love traveling and with Spring Break coming up, I though it only necessary to try and find solutions for something I know I struggle with when it comes to packing. I tend to over pack. I like to be prepared and then I end up not wearing half of  the items I brought. So I have developed a list of tips to help with your packing!

These tips are as follows:

1) Mix and Match- I know you don't want to wear things twice but here's the thing. You're on vacation. There are somethings you can get away with in order to save space. Example: Wear workout clothes on your travel days and then re-wear them when you actually workout. No one will know and you're working out, you'll be gross anyway.

2) Pack Flats- I know that you will need some heels and some clunkier shoes, but try to pack skinny sandals when you can and bring versatile shoes that go with multiple things.

3) Clean Out Toiletries- Make sure you aren't bringing anything you don't need, or is expired, or is just extra. At one point I remember looking in my toiletry bag and I had my travel shampoo along with two complimentary shampoos from two different trips.

4) Invest in Organizing- I recently bought a new travel make-up bag because I have a case. It's large and full of all my make-up because I love make-up so so much! However, I don't need to take that on a cruise ship with me. So I bought a decent sized make-up bag from amazon and I and excited to only take what I know I will wear with the outfits I am bringing.

So these are things I am going to try for my trip this year and I can't wait to see how it works. Thank you all for reading and I hoped this helped you in some way!

Meditation

Meditating is something that can really help those that really need to stop a breath a second. It makes those moments when you do have trouble breathing a lot easier when you set aside a time to just breath and think about all the good things you have in you life.

When I meditate, I like to read the Bible and then just ponder that when I meditate. I just like to sit and focus on breathing and really try to take in all the things God has shown me through the passage I read as well as the the good things in my life. Remember that part in "White Christmas" where Bing is singing about  "count your blessings instead of sheep"? That is the truth.

Just breath, light a candle, plug in some twinkle lights, make a calming environment, and take in all your blessings. Meditation is really easy and you can do it anywhere. Whenever you feel a little stressed just take a second close your eyes and breath, unless your in the car. In that case just breath!
I hope this helped you in some way!

Recognize that you are Beautiful

It's hard for me to see the beauty in myself and I know that this is a common thing for girls in general. We are our worst critic and for me it's not a false modesty. I don't say these things to have people correct me, I just truly believe it. But to avoid that accusation, I generally try not to say anything. I have decided to try and see the beauty in me. I think that it is important for your outward confidence and I think it is something I need to work on.

Beauty comes from not just your face or body, but also your personality so do something. 1)Forget every negative thing you have ever thought about yourself. 2)Now look in the mirror. 3)Look at yourself with fresh eyes. 4)Find things you like about yourself. 5)Tell yourself what you find. (You don't have to say these out loud if that will make you uncomfortable.)

Knowing your beauty is so much more than having people give you compliments. You have to be able to see it yourself and I know that no one wants to recognize their good traits out of fear of being arrogant or cocky, but there is a difference between cockiness and confidence. Confidence is being able to recognize that you deserve good things and possess good traits, but cockiness is feeling the need to remind everyone around you of that. There is a fine line so be careful.

Realize your beauty and know your strengths. You deserve it.

La La Land: Review

Last weekend I had the privilege of seeing "La La Land" with a few of my friends. This is my review of the critically acclaimed film.

First this story is the age old, try-to-make-it-in-Hollywood story, however it is done in a modernly classic way. "La La Land" was written and directed by Damien Chazelle. It stars Emma Stone as a Hollywood barista who goes on audition after audition trying to make it as an actress. Her male lead is Ryan Gosling as a jazz pianist who just wan't play what he wants and when he wants as jazz is meant to be played. After bumping into each other through many different occasions they begin a friendship that would soon turn into, yep you guessed it, a romance. They learn and they grow. I won't give too much away, but this film is truly a nod to the classics. They mention a few of my favorite oldies throughout the film and the music is just as star-shining as the story.

From a variety of composers, the original music for the film was composed by Justin Hurwitz. It is all so reminiscent of the golden age of Hollywood and all its glory. Overall the cinematography was beautiful. there were a few scenes that I questioned but they were almost always connected to a scene that was over the top. On of the most gorgeous scenes I have ever seen was the scene that featured a silhouette of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone dancing over a blue and purple starry sky. I absolutely loved this scene, though when it first started it made me wonder why.

I would recommend this movie to any true movie, musical, and Hollywood fan. If you like the oldies or if you just like movies in general, I think you will be pleasantly surprised with this film. It wasn't what I expected but I do believe it deserves all the praise it gets. I give this movie 4.5 stars.

Post Workout Yoga

Stretching after a workout is one of the best things you can do for your body. It helps your body recuperate and cool down in a gentle and relaxing way. I like to turn it into a kind of a Post-Workout-Yoga. I don't know yoga as well as I would like to, but I just stretch like I normally would with the yoga station on Pandora and try to slow down my breathing. It is a great way to end a workout and be relaxed all day.

Don't forget the most relaxing and easiest yoga poses: Downward Dog & Cobra
(Do these last)

Stretch all the muscles you worked.

Meditate: Breath and Relax.

Budget Your Life

If you're like me, you love to shop. But we all know that shopping means spending money and sometimes that leads to having no money left. This school year I have started a part time job and money has become more of a topic on my brain. I definitely need to be better about spending money and keeping money in my bank account, so here are a few tricks I am going to try to help budget my life.

1. With every paycheck, make a point to save a certain amount, but allow yourself so money to spend. Try to factor in bills and Grocery so you don't overestimate how much money you have to spend. I usually try and save at least $100.

2. Try not to eat out as much as you normally would. I know it's tempting but if you do end up going out with your friends, look to the cheaper things or try and eat before so you don't eat with them. I usually get an appetizer. This is probably the hardest one but you can still make it work.

3. When you go grocery shopping, avoid super Target and Walmart because they have a lot more that food. I know I have been dragged in to the clearance workout clothes on many occasions. Go to Kroger, which has cheaper prices than most Walmarts. Go to Publix or the Walmart neighborhood market.

4. I will write this one in all caps because it's my biggest vice when it comes to money. STAY OFF AMAZON. Just don't do it unless you really need something and even then only buy that thing.

5. Don't be afraid of drugstore make-up. I love make-up and all its glory, but all the big well-known products are so expensive but you know drugstore make-up does have it's equivalents to those big brands. You may have to buy a different brand for each part of your face but you will find your match and end up really loving it.

So far these are my biggest problems, so I hope they applied to some of you in some way. Let me know what you think in the comments below and how it works. Thanks for reading!

Get Fit & Get Happy

The New Years resolution that I have been focused on the most is getting fit. I want to eat healthy and workout a lot. My goal is to look as fit as a sports illustrated model.....but that's shooting for another galaxy, but hey why not shoot for another galaxy and land on the stars?

So here are some of my fitness goals and tricks I am doing to achieve them.

Workouts
I have many different types of workouts. I find most of them on Pinterest of course. Click here>>>Pinterest to see my Health and Fitness board. I really like the workout I found from Fitness Lord right now. It is shown below. I usually do one of the cardios and then the workout for that day as well as a focus after, like butt, arms, abs, or legs.

Food
I have just decided to eat healthier over all. I used to just count calories and eat whatever I want, which on occasion I still do, but lets be honest. That doesn't really work. So I have either thrown my bad food away, or I have hidden it away for a rainy day. Here are some pictures of some of the meals I have been eating.

Yoga/Meditation
Remember to breath. Part of being healthy and fit is making sure that you aren't holding in all of the things that make you upset so let it out and breath. I like to read my bible and then meditate on that.

Sleep
I wake up at 5:20 A.M. to go to the gym and it's hard to get enough sleep when you do that, but I just try and shoot for 9:30 and sometimes it turns into 10 or even 10:30, but that's okay. I still get at least 7 hours of sleep and I still get to sleep in on the weekends.

So far this has been my favorite resolution because it really keeps me focused. I feel more awake in classes and pay attention more and I have less anxiety when I work out. I went about two days without going to the gym and all my anxiety flooded in. I think this is something I am really going to stick with hopefully even past this year. I will keep y'all up to date with my progress and any new tips and tricks I have for Getting Fit and Getting Happy. Let me know what you thought in the comments below and don't forget to follow me on social media.

Happy Birthday Dad

These past six months have been the hardest months of my life. I could list and list all of the things that have made it this way on top of the anxiety I have about it all, but the biggest and most important thing that has happened is the sudden passing of my dad in July. This has literally been the most devastating thing to happen to my family and there is not a day that goes by that I don't think about him or one of the many memories that I have with him. The reason I bring this up today is because his birthday is today. On January 19th, 1957 by dad was born.

So today I want to share some pictures and talk a little bit about my dad and how much he means to me. My dad was the most loving human being I have ever met. He never said a foul word about anyone and he was always willing to help. I know these qualities seem like generic things to say about one's dad but let me give you an example. My dad was a man who never went a day without saying goodnight to me. "Sweet tights a dreams, see you in the morning, I love you." This is a man who had a plethora of tea parties with me in my younger years. This is a man who would call me while I was in class just because he heard a ambulance headed to my high school and he wanted to make sure I was alright. And he wasn't just like this with me, he was like this with my three brothers too, minus the tea parties.

My dad loved my mom and his children so much. He would have done anything for us and I am so so grateful to have had a dad like this because I know that not everyone gets that lucky. My mom, who is my best friend, has lost her best friend and that breaks my heart. But I know how much he loved my mom. The week he passed I didn't leave my mom's side. One day I was next to her while she was looking in the mirror. She said something along the lines of, "I'm ugly...but daddy always thought I was beautiful. That's all I ever wanted for you baby girl." My dad truly told my mom that every single day. He loved her so much and my dad maintained that love through out their marriage.

I have attained a lot of qualities from my dad, but my favorites are this: being able to be friends with anyone, being a child at heart, and having an imagination that can put Walt Disney to shame. My dad was loved by everyone who came into his presence. He was such a joy and a light in this world and I can only hope to have a little bit of that. He was also a big child at heart. One of his favorite movies was "The Incredibles" and I can still remember being able to hear him watch it from my bedroom. And as far as his imagination, well I want you to think about this, every time you pick up a RIDGID or RYOBI Drill or get a Coke out of a vending machine, you should think about my dad. The industrial designer that has worked on those things to make them better, more efficient, and nicer to look at too.

My dad is everywhere to me. He is here in Auburn. He is in every Disney and Pixar movie. He is in the headboard he made me and the Auburn hat he gave me. He is in my heart and soul and I will never forget him. I will always love you daddy.

 Happy Birthday!

7 Resolutions for 2017

This year I have decided to really try and accomplish all of my New Years Resolutions. I know we all normally think of resolutions, stick to them for a week, and then they fall apart. Well I am really wanting to better myself and be happier, so I am actually going to stick to them. So let's get started.

  2. Budget
  3. Take up Meditation
  4. Work on my Posture
  5. Say "yes" More
